Giampiero Volpe Prignano - aka YURI (Italy, 1936 - Argentina, 2004)

The artist commenced his art studies when he was 12 at the School of Art of LUCCA (Italy) and perfected his studies at the Instituto Superiore de Belle Arti in FLORENCE (Italy) in sculpture, ceramics and drawing. Concurrently, he studied Architecture for the advancement of his decoration studies.

He initiated his artistic career with his first exhibition of bronze sculptures when he was 11 years old, in Pisa (Italy).

At the age of 20, he travelled to South America where he collaborated in the projects of Brasilia (Brazil), perfecting himself in the projects of prefabricated elements applied to the construction and integral decoration. After that he began to specialize in sculpturing murals, preparing these in paints and engraved in embossments, both high and low in plaster, cement, metallic, bricks and wood. He prepared works for private collections of Brazil, USA, Peru, Uruguay, Argentina and others of great dimensions for public buildings in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
